How to prepare for a hearing with the Kentucky Personnel Board

On Behalf of | Dec 30, 2022 | Administrative Law |

Kentucky state government employs many people. Their job opportunities are dependable and offer many benefits. Additionally, employees’ rights are protected by major organizations. However, you may be terminated without cause. If this is your case, you can request a hearing with the Kentucky Personnel Board

However, you will need to prepare for this hearing. Here are three tips to help you:

1. Prepare your documents

Kentucky Personnel Board carries investigations to determine violations that occurred in the system that terminated you. However, the board always has many claims at once. Thus, it will help to have documents that support your claim ready to avoid postponements. For instance, if you were unfairly terminated for performance, collect your performance reports if you can access them.

Despite the board’s ability to obtain documents from the respective government body, it can be beneficial to have most of them at hand.

2. Fill out the appeal form

The board’s website has an appeal form that you need to fill out and send before the determined deadline. You can personally deliver the form. Other accepted platforms are U.S. mail, e-mail, fax and messenger mail. For your case to be officially reported, you only need to send the appeal form. You can forward your documents later.

3. Be informed about your dates

It is important to stay updated with the date and time of your hearing. If you believe you may be busy or distracted on that particular day, you can call the board and reschedule your meeting. The board allows parties to attend meetings online or in person.

Requesting a hearing with the Kentucky Personnel Board can protect your rights as a state government employee. Ensure that you get enough information about this process to avoid mistakes.
